Football 1996-2013
Between 1996 and 2013 I worked as first team club fitness coach for a succession of major football clubs, most notably Chelsea, working with well over 200 professional players, including many high profile internationals.
In 1996 after 3 years as a professional fitness coach in Kensington London, I was asked by Chelsea Football Club to be their Fitness Coach. They had just appointed a new manager, Rudd Gullitt who had played in Italy, where most teams had a fitness coach, but in the English Premiership at that time there was only one. So I started working for Chelsea. The first year was great! The season ended at the F.A Cup final (Roberto Di Matteo scoring that great early goal and me meeting my wife and mother of my two children). |
After 10 years and 4 managers, Gullit, Vialli, Ranieri, and Mourinho, I decided to move on. Millwall was my next club under Nigel Spackman, then Wille Donachie.
Then Roberto Di Matteo, a player at Chelsea, embarked on what turned out to be a massively successful football manager's career, starting at MK Dons in 2008, West Brom in 2009 and then back to Chelsea.I worked with him as First Team Fitness Coach at MK Dons and West Bromwich Albion. |
